Best Fabric Recliners

Have you ever wondered, what will be the best choice of upholstery when choosing a recliner? Well, you have a basic choice between leather, which can be genuine or synthetic leather or a fabric recliner that can consist of many different types of fabric. They are some differences between both, and they are also some pros and cons to both fabric and leather, upholstered recliners. For the article today, we will specifically be looking at the different types of fabric recliners and the benefits there are to having a fabric recliner.

Leather VS Fabric

Before I want to get into the many lovely fabric recliner options that are available to you, I just want to do a comparison between a fabric upholstered and a leather upholstered recliner. Keep in mind that you get genuine leather and PU leather, which are much similar in their functions and benefits.

  • Style – Now, when it comes to style and leather recliner, generally looks much more sophisticated and stylish than any fabric recliner. Fabric recliners tend to look more informal, whereas leather recliners look more formal. Your fabric recliners give a more traditional style, whereas your leather recliners are slightly more modern in style.
  • Comfort – Comfort in terms of comfort my personal experience would say that a fabric recliner is much more comfortable than a leather recliner. Leather when you first sit down on it has a very cool feel to it. It is cold to the touch, and it is more breathable. On very hot days when you are sitting on leather, it can become quite sweaty and you can stick to the leather. Fabric recliners will mostly be warm and cozy. Fabric upholstery such as linens and cotton is slightly cooler and more breathable. But most polyester and microfiber fabric recliners do have a warm feeling to them.
  • Maintenance – Maintenance is quite important, as you will need to clean and maintain your recliner regularly now. Leather recliners or extremely easy to clean. They generally do not absorb water, and you can easily just wipe them clean. Your genuine leather recliners will need a little more care, with some leather oil and leather polish for the upkeep of the genuine leather. Most fabric recliners will hold stains. They will absorb wetness or water, or any stain. Fabric recliners also tend to collect dust, pet tender, and pet hairs. Fabric recliners are not always the best option if you are in a home with pets and children. They can be harder to clean, and they need to be washed.
  • Hypoallergenic? – Something that you might not have considered in your choice between a fabric or a leather recliner is allergens. Allergens come in the form of pet hair or dander, pollen, dust, dust mites and many other things, even the type of fabric that you use could cause an allergic reaction. Leather is always a better option if you have allergies.
  • Cost – Luckily, when it comes to the cost of fabric upholstery, recliners are much more affordable than leather recliners. They are cheaper leather recliners, however, they consist of very low-quality leather or synthetic leather, or even bonded leather, that will not be lost as long as a counter fabric recliner. Genuine leather recliners are more durable and of better quality, but they can be extremely expensive.

Types of Fabric

These are a few different types of fabrics that are used to upholster recliners;

  • Natural – If you are someone that lacks the feel of a natural fabric, they are a few natural fabrics that can be used to upholster your recliner. We start with cotton, which is the most widely used natural fiber for upholstery for your reclaimer. That is also quite affordable. Cotton has a soft feel. It is breathable and resistant to fading, but it is unfortunately susceptible to stains. Cotton can also easily catch dust and dirt, so it is not the best choice for an everyday-use recliner. I’m just mentioning this as a fact of mentioning it, but silk is also sometimes used as a form of upholstery for recliners. It is usually for recliners that are more for decorative purposes than practical use. Silk is extremely expensive, and you will need to have your soul recliner professionally cleaned. Linen might also be used as an upholstery for your recliner. However, Linen does seem to stain and wrinkle easily. Linen is a very easy fabric to dye and print, so it can make for some lovely, intricate designs for the upholstery on your recliner.
  • Synthetic – Now we get to synthetic fabrics used to upholster recliners. Now, as you will see from our list of recliners that we have chosen, most recliners have synthetic fabric upholstery, which is mostly either polyester or microfiber. Polyester is the fiber that is mostly used to upholster recliners. It can be blended with cotton and other fabrics. It retains dye very easily, and it is also quite a good choice in terms of cleaning and maintenance. nylon is used for indoor recliners, and it’s most of the time combined with other synthetic or natural fibers. nylon can be combined with velvet or chenille fabrics to make it more durable. Lastly, we have microfibre, as you will see, many recliners have microfiber upholstery. Now, microfibre can have different textures from a smooth, soft suede or velvety field to a coarser and more fluffy feel.
